M42 – The Great Orion Nebula

Almost all of 2025 has been poor for astrophotography. The weather has been overcast. For this reason, I have not had time to observe some of the fabulous winter targets here from the backyard. But Februrar has already proven to be better than January and has already provided a couple of nights out. M42 – …

M81 - Bode's Galaxy

M81 – Bode’s fantastic galaxy revisited

In 2024, significant progress was made in astrophotography, particularly with Bode’s Galaxy (M81) and Cigar Galaxy (M82). Utilizing an upgraded kit featuring the Askar 71F telescope and ZWO ASI533MC Pro camera, the author captured 250 exposures totaling 12.5 hours. Key statistics and descriptions of both galaxies are included.

SH2-275 – The amazing Rosette Nebula

The author shares experiences transitioning from the Nikon Z5 to the ZWO ASI533MC Pro for astrophotography, specifically capturing the Rosette Nebula. Despite the ASI533’s lower resolution, its cooled sensor minimizes noise, producing clearer images in less time. A comparison shows improved detail with the new setup.

IC1805 - the heart nebula

The Heart of the Cosmos: A Journey into IC1805A heart of beauty in space

Astrophotography blends art and science, exemplified by the Heart Nebula, IC1805, located 7,500 light-years away. Captured in detail with a Nikon Z5 and Askar 71F refractor, the nebula’s ethereal beauty arises from stellar winds and radiation from massive stars, inviting exploration of the cosmos and our place within it.

Comet C/2023 A3

Brilliant Comet C/2023 A3

The author shares their experience observing Comet C/2023 A3 from their backyard using a SeeStar S50 telescope. Despite challenges in tracking the comet due to its rapid movement and light pollution, they managed to capture images. They opted for a 60-second exposure to avoid overexposure and utilized online resources for image processing assistance.

The incredible Whirlpool Galaxy – A galactic tango

M51, the Whirlpool galaxy, is a prominent spiral galaxy visible from the northern hemisphere, specifically Denmark, where it never sets below the horizon. It’s involved in a slow cosmic collision with the nearby NGC 5195 galaxy. The photo taken with a Nikon Z5 reveals M51’s spiral arms and the dust from the smaller galaxy.

The Rosette Nebula

The Fantastic Rosette Nebula

One of the most fascinating objects in the night sky to me is SH2-275 more commonly known as the Rosette Nebula. This star-forming region in space is located in the constellation of Monocerotis. The region forms a very pretty rosette on the night sky. Unfortunately, it is not visible to the naked eye since it …

M81 – Bode’s galaxy

One of the classic constellations of the night sky in the northern hemisphere is the big dipper known to astronomers as Ursa Major. In this region of the sky, there are a lot of deep sky objects to be found, from the Messier catalogue we could mention M81, M82, M97, and M101 to mention some …
